I recently took the Adobe Creative Type Quiz which, as the name suggests, identifies one’s creative type. It was an ordinary quiz with a series of 15 abstract questions. Breaking down the quiz, I realized that the core characteristics of any personality were a person’s basic orientation (Introvert/Extrovert), thinking style (Intellectual/Emotional), and action style (Ideas/Action). However, the questions were not straightforward in approach but were rather creative. I, personally, found this idea rather intriguing as it encouraged the test-takers to imagine and ‘be creative’.
Along with the interesting questions, the visuals were also immersive and entertaining. Definitely unexpected, but extremely fascinating. They were visually informative with self-explanatory analogies. The most fascinating aspect of these visuals was the representational narratives through the simple use of animated textures and shapes. It was a thoroughly engaging experience.
The creative personality characters are the cherries on top! They are so appropriate and innovative that they literally embody the word they are portraying. My favorites are the Innovator and the Visionary; the innovator- the one with the thought bubbles emerging out of the box; the Visionary with 5 eyes to obviously depict ‘vision’ (literally).
I strongly believe in not characterizing people on any basis what-so-ever as we are constantly reinventing ourselves and hence, compartmentalizing our personalities is not fair to us. Moreover, I also believe that in this spectrum of creative personalities, we are spread all the way across the wheel. However, this quiz was rather eye-opening and illuminating. It was an exploratory experience that helped me understand my creative strengths and weaknesses. To be honest, It was also kinda fun!
